Visitor Numbers so far this year
We welcomed:
- 22 groups from Cardiff and Vale
- 18 groups from outside the area
- 16 other youth organisations
In total, 1,750 visitors enjoyed Jubilee, whether camping or visiting for the day. We still have a couple of busy weekends ahead, and bookings for next year are already coming in. So please get booking to ensure you get the dates you want.
Site Progress
Thanks to the dedication of our Wardens and the small team of leaders who attend service days, the site has held up brilliantly despite the high footfall. Over the next few weeks, three different companies will be joining us for community volunteering days, which will further enhance the site, and if you know of any businesses that can support, please have them get in touch with us.
You may have seen that over the last couple of months, we have been replacing the bridges, and these have been kindly sponsored by Janet Burfitt in memory of her father who was part of the service team in the early years of the campsite.
If you have visited the campsite, you may have seen a building, and this is called a Surinam Hut, which was kindly donated and built by Philip Walters and his team. The Surinam Hut is to support the Jubilee team as a camp office. The origins of the Hut were originally gifted to Jubilee Scout Campsite from the World Jamboree in 1957, and was built by the scouts from 6th Barry Sea Scout Group, of which Philip was one of those scouts who helped build the Hut.

By the end of October, the site will have an accessible toilet on site, which will be easier for less able people to use.
Other projects in the pipeline are that the team will be turning areas in the woodlands into a small Reflection Area for a quiet area to sit, think and chat with others and also a large campfire area, making a purpose area for Tomahawk throwing to complement the Archery Area, Shelter for the Hammock Area, along with a long list of general site maintenance.
The Campsite has come a long way over the last 12 months, and we are really working hard to improve the site even more, but we do need some more hands to support on service days. These service days are posted on the campsite Facebook page and are every 2 weeks, so please look out for these and pop along and lend a hand.
